Once again I am sorry for not posting again today. Tomorrow will feature multiple stories so stay tuned...I'll be voicing my opinion about Joe Torre managing the Dodgers, some local insight on the Phillies five-player trade made earlier tonight, and a little college basketball chatter about last nights Gardner-Webb's upset over #22 Kentucky.

Sorry about no posts today, school and work had me busy as all hell today. Anyway to make up for it, heres the video of the day. If Kevin Garnett is this focused in a huddle, imagine him while playing. This guy brings it and wants a ring that bad. Celtics fans rejoice, your savior is here.

Monday Night Preview: Steelers-Ravens

Not a fantastic matchup tonight on good ole' primetime television. The Ravens enter the game with a defense that has been solid, but has seemed to lost its edge over the past few weeks. On the other side of the ball, Kyle Boller still stinks and I actually yawn and fall asleep to the Ravens O. I mean come on, Billick must have nightmares trying to figure out plays that work with this sorry bunch of tackle football players. Things could get better however, as the "Ageless Wonder" Steve McNair makes his return after being sidelined by injury. Somehow the Ravens are still in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt.

The Steelers, under new coach Mike Tomlin, have quietly put together a nice record so far this season. Big Ben has reemerged as "manager" on offense. Willie Parker does what he does and cranks his way to many rushing yards and TD's. The wide receiving corps. has not been pretty however. The combination of Ward/Holmes/Randle El has done very little in terms of production. Their defense was good last year and this year they look scary good with old D-Coordinator Tomlin using his skilled talents to better an already ridiculous D.

Prediction: Steelers 24-Ravens 14....Lets face it, the Ravens offense is the only thing holding this team back from a contender to a pretender. Or they will prove me wrong tonight, but I see too much "Fast-Action" and bone-crushing Steelers D ready to take them down.

For All You Hockey Fans Out There

My Flyers take on a tough division rival tonight in the New York Rangers. Historically, these two teams hate each other and every contest between the two over the past couple of years has been intense, exciting, and fun to watch hockey.

The Flyers have taken over first place in the Atlantic Division after claiming last in the league in 2006. The additions of Danny Briere, Jason Smith, and Kippo Timonen have sparked this team to play like the old Flyers us fans have been used too.

The Rangers added Scott Gomez and Chris Drury in the offseason which pretty much made them a lock as favorites to take the Atlantic Division. However, they currently sit second to last place in the Atlantic with a .500 record. Either way you look at it, tonight is a statement game for moth teams.

Any hockey fan who is able to catch this game tonight either in the Philly/New York areas or on hockey cable packages will definetely not be wasting their time. These two teams play a very physical game against each other and every player brings it in this intense rivalry. Should be a good game and I'll post later with some analysis after the game.

Monday Morning Quarterback: A Quick Review of Yesterday's Action

Good: Battle of the Unbeatens results in the Patriots being the only team left with a 0 in the loss column.

Good: Drew Brees learned how to play football again and suddenly the Saints are in a position to take their divison.

Ugly: The Philadelphia Eagles season is over thanks to Tony Romo and the hated TO who enjoyed every second of flapping his arms after that monster of a touchdown catch and run.

Ugly: My fantasy team which just flat out stinks. Thanks Javon Walker and Ronnie Brown for ruining another fantasy season.

Monday Morning Quarterback Special: Player Of The Week

Rumblin', bumblin', stumblin' his way for 296 rushing yards setting an NFL single-game record. His name is Adrian Peterson and get used to these numbers because he won't be stopping anytime soon. Quickly emerging as the top Rookie of the Year candidate and the steal of this year's draft at the 7 spot, Peterson is using the explosiveness that set him apart in college to tear apart rushing defenses across the national football league.

Just look at these gaudy numbers from Adrian's three years as a Sooner. His freshman season, he pounded the rock for almost 2,000 rushing yards and hit paydirt with 15 touchdowns. His next season as a sophmore, Peterson rushed for less, but put up an astronomical amount of touchdowns, 84 to be exact. His final year as a Sooner, the big man compiled a little over a 1,000 yards and 12 TDs on a weak Sooners team that never really contended.

Those college stats are pretty darn good for any running back. To be able to translate that kind of production to the NFL right away and at a record pace is what makes this astonishing. The same techniques he used in college are now working in the most premier league of football against players being paid millions to make a few tackles every game. Over his first eight games as an NFL rookie he already has over a 1,000 yards rushing. He now owns the single-game rushing record and he is on pace to take a lot more records before his time is done.

Since I started watching the game of football, I have not seen the same explosiveness and ability to take it to house play in and play out since Barry Sanders was carrying the rock for the Lions. Peterson has the natural talent and work ethic to succeed the "Big 3" of Emmit, Payton, and Sanders. He is only a rookie and has many years left to play. The Vikings might not be the best team in the league, but their offensive line is stacked. Do not be surprised to see this kid on highlight reels every week until he retires as a professional football player. This is what makes Adrian Peterson my pick as Player of The Week and I look forward to writing about him as the weeks pass.

Due to me having to work today, my Monday Morning Quarterback post will be up sometime tonight. Expect a good blurb on Mr. Peterson and all the other antics that happened this past week in the NFL.

Officially Starting the Kevin Kolb Movement

As a die hard Eagles fan, tonights game on national TV against the CowGirls was absolutely disgraceful. Andy Reid's playcalling makes the Dolphins offense look great. McNabb is getting too old and it is showing in every aspect of his game. He thinks too long in the pocket, he is terrified to throw an interception resulting in low passes and balls not even close to his receivers. He isn't that mobile anymore either. As an Eagles fan I was actually embarassed for the first time watching my Birds ruin their season against our biggest rivals...

Which brings me to my official campaign to start Kevin Kolb over McNabb. Lets face it, the "marriage" between McNabb and the Eagles front-office ended the minute they drafted Kolb in last years highly controversial Eagles draft. Kolb is young, has a hell of a arm, and reminds me of a young Tom Brady. I don't mean to overhype the guy, but anyone is better than McNabb at this point. The Eagles season is now virtually over and starting Kolb would only help his inevitable future as our starting QB. Until then, expect more boos from the Philly faithful and more questions about McNabb's diminishing abilities.

Inaugral First Post: Battle of The Unbeatens

And what a game it was. "The Comeback Kid" also known as Tom Brady performed some more 4th quarter magic to lead the Patriots over the Colts 24-20. The obvious key play of the game was Manning's fumble with the two minute warning approaching giving the Patriots the ball in great field position to secure the win.

The Colts, led by Joseph "Live and Let" Addai who pounded the Pats D for over 200 yards of offense, seemed to control the game most of the way. Their pass defense lived up to their name with two key interceptions by Bethea and Brackett. Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney also brought pressure on Brady the whole game. Peyton and Addai once again controlled the offense this week. Addai is really emerging as a premier back in this league and is reminding me a lot of Brian Westbrook.

The Patriots, even though down all game, stuck with conservative play and consistency in order to regain the lead. Randy Moss had two beautiful catches, one which was caught one-handed in the middle of the field. He has no fear of coming across the middle and making the big catch to help his team win. For the first time this season the Pats failed to score on their opening drive. However, the early struggles of Tom Brady against a ferocious Colts D wore off as the fourth quarter began. Once again Brady led his team to another comeback win and claimed their spot as the only remaining unbeaten team in the NFL. Time will tell whether this team can go undefeated the whole way, but a win against the Colts gives them tons of momentum heading into their bye week and the final stretch of the season. It should be an exciting finish.
